In 1998 Phil co-founded Abbott, McCaw, Richter & Associates ("AMR"), a Systems Integration and Management Consulting firm based in Wellington. With his partners Phil subsequently co-founded: eCentric Ventures - developers of on-line market-place solutions; eCargo - an on-line freight logistics business; PartsTrader - an on-line market place for car parts; and lead the AMR / eCentric investment into Trade Me - New Zealand's leading on-line trading community - through the formative years of the company.
With the successful exit of Trade Me to Fairfax in 2006 Phil and his original AMR partners established Movac to exclusively focus on investing into and mentoring early stage, high growth potential technology businesses.
Phil is now the Managing Partner of Movac and chairs the Investment Committees for Funds 3 and 4. He has been actively investing since 1998 and personally invested in all the Movac funds and lead investment into over 20 companies.
Phil is an active angel investor and maintains a personal angel investment portfolio outside of Movac. He is a strong advocate for the development of the entrepreneurial and early stage investment eco-system in New Zealand. Phil is also past Chair of the Angel Association of New Zealand, a founding investor in the Lightning Lab tech accelerator and the Kiwi Landing Pad in San Francisco.
Prior to founding Movac, Phil worked as a Senior Manager at Deloitte Consulting for 10-years in NZ and the US.
