Resolving Conflicts Between TOC Objects and Media Objects

We've recently had several people report problems with their HTML output - where the HTML publishes fine, but upon viewing the finished output two browser windows are opening. One has two frames (with the Contents or Index on the left, and the Topics on the right), but the other (named tab_toc.htm) displays as virtually a blank page - with only a Contents and Index Icon displaying in the top left hand corner.

Reason:

This occurs when there is a conflict between the TOC (Table of Contents) Object, and the Media Object used by the TOC Object - normally Contents Section. The TOC is using the Show in a frame beside the document property, but the Media object is using the toc_template.htm.

Solution:

Either:

  1. Adjust the TOC Object so it uses the Use custom frameset defined in Book property.

    -or-

  2. Adjust the Media object to remove the reference to the toc_template.htm.
