Importing in a Batch
When you have multiple files in different folders to import at once, if you wish to change the sequence files are imported in, or if you want to select a different profile to use, you can use Author-it's Batch Import.
To Import Files in a Batch
- From the main Author-it menu, choose Import > Batch Import.
The Author-it Import Wizard opens.

- Select the type of files you want to import.
- Select the files you want to import by choosing the Add button. The Select a File window appears.
- Select the file or files you want to import. You can select more than one file at a time if they are in the same folder.
- Choose the Open button. The Select a File window closes and the files you selected are added to the list.
- Repeat steps 3 to 5 to select files from a different folder, and continue until you have selected all the files you want to import.
- To remove files from the list of files to be imported select the name of the file or files you no longer want to import, and choose the Remove button. The files you selected are removed from the list.
- To specify the order in which files are imported use the Move Up and Move Down buttons to arrange the files in the order you want them imported.
- Select a Profile to use for the import. If you don't select a profile, Author-it uses the default profile for the file type selected.
- You can either confirm each step of the import (recommended), or import the files unguided using the profile rules.
- Choose Next.
If you've chosen to confirm each step, the Topic Structure Wizard appears.
If you've chosen to import the files unguided, the import proceeds until it's complete.
