Adding a Rule

When formatting in your documents is not identified by an existing rule, you can create a new rule.

Tip

You can quickly create rules during the Import Preview.

To Add a Rule:

  1. Select Import > Transformation Rules from the main menu.

    The Import Rules window appears, showing all the rules in your library.

  2. Choose the New button.
  3. Select the rule type, and give your rule a name and description.

    New Rule - General

    • If the rule type selected is 'Create Topic in Document' you will see a Topic Creation tab.
    • If the rule type selected is 'Apply Author-it Style' you will see a Style Mapping tab.
    • If the rule type selected is 'Find/Replace Text' you will see a Find and Replace tab.
  4. Select the Topic Creation, Style Mapping, or Find and Replace tab, and enter the criteria for your rule.
  5. Save your changes.
