Linking To a Topic That Does Not Display In The Table of ContentsA number of people have asked lately, how they can create a hypertext link to a topic that they don't want to be visible in the Table of Contents. Under the WinHelp tab, there is a subtab "Display and Contents" with properties that control the Help Contents behavior - set the option to Do Not Show In Contents. (Note that the WinHelp tab controls a number of the settings for the various Online Help formats - not just the Winhelp). You can then link to this Topic, but it will not appear in the Table of Contents. This property only controls how the topics appear in the Table of Contents - not how they are referenced from other topics. It is the hypertext link object that controls how the Topic will appear when it is linked to. You will most likely need to adjust the template the Topic is based on - and perhaps create a new template for Topic such as this. |
