Checking-In External Files

When checking in an Offline Library you may need to tell Author-it where to put any linked files that are stored external to the Library. You will not be able to continue checking-in the offline library until this information is provided. For example:

  • You have created a File Object offline. It refers to several pictures on your laptop hard drive. When you check the File Object in, these Files will need to be copied somewhere other than the laptop.

To set the appropriate folder:

  1. Author-it displays a list of new linked files found in your offline library. Highlight the files you wish to set a path for.

  2. Choose the Set Folder button and select the destination path for these files.
  3. Repeat until all files have a folder set, at which time the OK button will be enabled.

  4. Choose OK to copy the files and continue checking-in your library.

Note: It is recommended that rather than linking to external files that you embed files within your library.
