Upgrading Libraries

The update to v4.5 contains database modifications, so requires a library upgrade.

If you open an existing Library created with an earlier version of AuthorIT, you will be prompted that the database needs upgrading before it can be used.

If running the Desktop edition of AuthorIT, you will be asked if you wish to upgrade the Library now. Choose Yes, and the database will be converted to the latest version, and a backup will be automatically created.

If running the Workgroup or Enterprise edition, the prompt will advise you to contact your AuthorIT Administrator to upgrade the Library. They will need to open the Library with the AuthorIT Administrator program and upgrade it before it can be used.

Important: If you receive any errors during the upgrade process, revert to the backup created and try again. Do not attempt to carry on working in a library that has been partially upgraded.

SQL Server:

If using SQL Server, the library will not be backed up automatically. You are strongly advised to export the database to JET first, or follow your normal backup procedure prior to upgrading the Library.

Localization Manager

Each target library must also be upgraded before you can access Localization Manager. You will also need to upgrade the previous update for each locale before you can use the Library Compare function.

Important: Do not create translation jobs in a test environment and send them out for translation as they will not import into the live system. Translation jobs, updates, and target libraries, should never be created in a test environment and copied into a live environment. It is recommended that you go through your own acceptance testing in a test environment prior to working with the live data.
