Adding a Variable Assignment
A Variable in an object may have a new value assigned to it. For instance, if you wish to set a Variable to a different value throughout a book, you can assign a new value that will replace the default value, and in turn, alter all occurrences of the Variable in the book. Alternatively, you can nominate specific topics to be assigned a new Variable value, while the rest of the book uses the default Variable value.
To add a Variable Assignment
- From the Library Explorer choose an object that you wish to assign a new Variable Value to.
- From the main menu choose Tools > Variables > Assignments.
-or-
Right-click, and choose List Variable Assignments from the shortcut menu.
The Variable Assignments window appears.

- Select the Variable that you wish to change the value of, and choose the
button.-or-

- Choose OK. The changes to the Variable are saved. The Variable Assignments window displays the default Variable value in the left hand pane, and the new Variable value for the object in the right hand pane.
