Viewing Your Document's Outputs

Once you have published your document's outputs, you'll naturally want to check them (like any proud parent).

To view your document's outputs, you and your readers need to have the correct run time components for each output format installed on your computers.

In particular:

  • To view JavaHelp output you'll need the Sun Java Runtime Environment (JRE).
  • To view Oracle Help for Java output, you'll need the Sun Java Runtime Environment (JRE).

There are many ways of viewing your outputs after publishing.

To View a Selected Book

  • From the Library Explorer, right-click a Book, choose View Published, then the output. The most recently published version of any outputs are listed with the date/time published.

    -or-

  • From the Book Editor menu, choose Publish > View Published, then the output.

    -or-

  • From the Author-it main menu, choose Publish > View Published, then the output for the currently open Book. This option is disabled if there is no book open.

To Display a list of all jobs you have published

  1. From the Author-it main menu, choose Publish > Publishing Jobs...

    -or-

From the main toolbar, click the Publish Book Icon button, then select the Jobs tab.

    -or-

From the Author-it main menu, choose Publish > Start Author-it Publisher, then click the Jobs... button.

  2. The Jobs window appears, displaying a list of Books you have published in your Library.By default only the last 7 days are displayed.

    View Published Jobs

  3. Select the output and Book that you want to view, then click the View Output button or double-click to open the output. You can also view the containing folder, and the publisher log for that job.
  4. The output appears, using the program associated with that type of file. You may need to install the appropriate run time program to allow you to view all output types
  5. Smile, then note any changes that need to be made before you release the document on an unsuspecting world.
