Styles Not Defined in Word Template

Problem

I'm getting errors when publishing my Word document - when I view the error log it shows:

Important Icon

The Style "stylename" is not defined in the Word Template

Where "stylename" is a style I've created in Author IT.

Reason

Word cannot find the new style that you have created in the template it uses at publishing time - you also need to create the new styles in this template.

The Style Definition tab in Author-it controls the outline level of lists in all output formats, but otherwise only determines how that style will look in your editing environment. On the Document tab, you need to specify the name of the corresponding Word style for Author-it to map to, and make sure you also create those styles in the Word template used during publishing - authorit.dot by default, found in your ..\AuthorIT V4\Data\Templates\Word Templates folder.

Solution

Create the new style/s in the Word Publishing Template, and republish.
