Default Library Folder Structure

Author-it uses a default structure for its Library Folders.

All components of your document set are able to be shared. However, in practice there are some types of object you will only want to share in a restricted fashion, and others that may not be appropriate for reuse in more than one document.

Author-it's customizable folders let you create as many folders as you like, and control which people can perform which tasks in them. Because most permissions apply to all the objects inside a particular folder, you may need to create more specific folders to implement your security design. Your Author-it Reseller can help you work out an appropriate folder structure for your organization.

How the Folder Structure Works

  • Shared objects and object templates which only certain people can modify are placed in the Restricted folder.
  • Shared objects which can be more widely modified are placed in the Shared folder.
  • Objects which are not shared across the entire document set are placed in individual folders that you create. These may be for specific projects, departments, or clients - any structure that matches how your business works. Your Author-it Reseller can help you design this folder structure.
