Setting Up the Author-it Website Manager Objects

When you run the update to version 4.3.566, a new Website Manager folder is created under your Templates directory. This folder includes an XML file for importing sample Author-it templates and objects and a sample AfterPublish batch file for uploading the files to the Author-it Website Manager review folder. A sample book is also included to give you an idea of how it all fits together.

Before working with the sample book there's a few things you'll need to set up:

  1. Install the latest build of Author-it
  2. Create the Author-it Website Manager variables in Administrator
  3. Import the templates and objects from the XML files

Note: In order to import the XML files you will need to be running Author-it Enterprise Edition version 4.3.556 or later. Author-it Desktop and Workgroup Editions do not support Author-it Website Manager. For information on upgrading to please visit our pricing page.

Once this has been set up, and Author-it Website Manager installed, you can open the sample book and see how it was created. The Author-it Website Manager contains the published content from the sample book and a range of sample experiences for viewing the sample websites.
