Assigning Website Manager Variables

When using Author-it Website Manager, variables are assigned against content in Author-it using the Author-it Website Manager variable wizard. The wizard has three options for assigning values:

1. Not included: Choose this option to exclude a topic from being published in Author-it Website Manager content.
2. New page: Choose this option when the topic is being flagged to create a new webpage.
3. Part of page: Choose this option when the content is being flagged as a page part, or sub section, of a webpage (for example, content to be displayed in a note section in the template).

To Assign Website Manager Variables to a Topic:

1. In the Library Explorer right-click on the topic and choose Website Manager... from the context menu

   

2. Select the option for the topic as Not included, New page, or Part of page
   • For New page add the values for Reference, Menu name, Template, Placeholder, and Parent page reference
   • For Part of page add the placeholder to be assigned to the content

   

3. Choose OK to save the values against the topic

Note: The Parent Ref variable can also be assigned to a sub book from the Library Explorer.
