How Webpages are Assembled
Webpages are dynamically assembled using content (text and images), HTML templates, and functionality.
- An Experience is created in Author-it Website Manager for each end-user experience. The experience includes associations between content, templates and functionality used to assemble each webpage.
- The webpage is assembled from content created in Author-it, and usually includes a variety of content types. The author assigns values to each topic object that tell Author-it Website Manager how the topic will be used when the webpage is assembled. The values tell Author-it Website Manager about the sitemap structure, which topics create new webpages (and the template to use), and which topics are used as parts of a webpage.
The following example shows a page as it appears with placeholders. Author-it Website Manager assembles the page using Author-it content (the main body, tip and announcement topics), functionality (menu and advert), and HTML files (banner and footer).

- When the visitor requests a webpage, Author-it Website Manager uses the experience to assemble the page and return it to the browser.
