Problems With DeletionI'm having problems with deleting things I brought into a library. Firstly - I can't seem to find a good way to delete a lot of interrelated stuff at one go - I imported a Help project with a couple of keystrokes, but had to pick through unlinking everything to delete - hours of work! I then found that even after deletion the library was huge - presumably tracking all these deletions as changes. Is there any way of clearing this down? Even starting from the 'Sample' adl and deleting a few things seems to increase its size. AnswerUnfortunately, it is a lot easier to add stuff than delete it. Given that all objects rely on other ones, we could cause serious problems if we just remove them without checking. It's a regular can o' worms. Each time you perform any action (including deletion, ironically enough), the library database gets bigger. To make it smaller again at any time, choose File > Library Administration > Compact Library from the main Author-it menu. In the Workgroup and Enterprise Editions, this feature has been incorporated into the Author-it Administrator module. |
