Inserting an Embedded Picture

You can insert certain formats of pictures directly into the topic text. The following are the formats that Author-it supports:

• Windows Bitmaps (.bmp)
• Compuserve GIF files (.gif)
• JPEG files (.jpg)
• Portable Network Graphics (.png)
• Windows Metafiles (.wmf)

Note: When you insert pictures directly into the topic text, Author-it will automatically create a File object for it when you save the Topic.

To Insert a Picture

1. From the Topic Editor toolbar, click the button

   -or-

   From the Book Editor menu bar, choose Insert > Picture.

   The Select a Picture file window appears for you to choose a file.

   

2. Choose a picture file to insert and choose Open to insert the picture. Author-it inserts the specified picture file into the text.
