Specifying Header and Footer Names in Author-it

When you're specifying headers and footers for your Printed document output, you'll need to tell Author-it the names of the Autotext Entries stored in your Word publishing template.

To Specify Header and Footer Names

  1. From the main menu, choose Tools > Header and Footer Names.

    -OR-

From the Document tab of a Media object, choose the Modify Headers button or Modify Footers button. The Header and Footer Names window appears.

  2. Add and remove Headers/Footers. You can also import the names of all headers and footers in your publishing template.
  3. Save your changes.

To Import Header/Footer Names From a Word Template

  1. To simply import the names of all headers and footers in your publishing template, choose Import From Word Template. A File Open window appears.
  2. Select your publishing template, then choose Open. Author-it imports all of the Autotext entry names found in the selected template.
  3. For each imported Entry Name, specify whether you want the entry to be listed as a header or footer.
  4. Save your changes.

To Add a Header/Footer Name

  1. Type in the name of the new Autotext Entry, exactly how it appears in Word. If you get the name wrong, you'll get errors during publishing.
  2. Choose Add, then choose whether you want the Autotext Entry to be listed as a header or a footer.
  3. Save your changes.
