Opening Any Object

You can open an object from just about anywhere you see its icon or any reference to it.

To Open an Existing Object

As a general rule you can double-click on an object icon or name to open that object.

  • From the Library Explorer:
    • Double click the object, or
    • Choose Open from the shortcut menu.
  • From the Contents of a Book or Index:
    • Double click on the object's icon, or
    • Choose Open from the shortcut menu.
  • From an object properties dialog box: (for example, the name of a media object in a topic)
    • Double click the object's name . This only works when the field is not disabled (grayed) and is not a drop-down list.
  • From a list of objects shown in a panel: (for example, objects shown in the show relationships dialog box)
    • Double click on the object's icon, or
    • Choose Open from the shortcut menu.
