Extracting the Files

The presentations.zip file contains a number of files and folders used when creating your presentations. We recommend you extract the file to your Author-it 5\Data\Templates folder. Otherwise, you will need to move files later to retain the relative paths set up in the new Author-it objects.

Note: The exact steps to extract the files may vary according to the zip program used, but it's important to retain the folder structure we've set up so the necessary publishing templates are extracted to the correct sub folders.

To Extract the Files Using WinZip:

  1. Right-click the zip file and choose Extract To... Winzip opens and you are prompted to choose a location to extract the files to.

Note: Ensure the Use folder names box is checked.

  2. Select your Author-it 5\Data\Templates folder and choose Extract. The files are extracted.

To Extract the Files Using Windows XP:

  1. Right-click the zip file and choose Extract All... The Extraction Wizard opens.
  2. Choose Next to select a destination.
  3. Choose Browse and select your Author-it 5\Data\Templates folder.
  4. Choose Next. The files are extracted.

Once extracted, your Templates folder should have the following new folder and files:

  • Presentations. A folder containing a number of sub folders that holds the templates required for publishing.
  • Presentation Templates.xml. An Author-it XML file containing the new Author-it objects and templates used in the library.
  • Sample Presentation.xml. An Author-it XML file containing a sample presentation that can be published from your library.
  • Presentations Documentation in .chm and PDF formats. A help file with the information on setting up and working with Author-it Presentations.
