Setting It Up

To make the setup as simple as possible we have included all the files you'll need to create and publish Author-it presentations in one small zip file.

presentations.zip includes XML files for the Author-it templates and objects used in the library, as well as the publishing templates, style sheets, additional files, and JavaScript needed to publish slide show presentations. A book containing a sample presentation is also included to give you an idea of how it all fits together.

Before you can begin creating presentations there's a few things you'll need to do to set things up:

1. Extract the files from Author-it Presentations.zip.
2. Import the Author-it presentation templates and objects from the XML files.

   Note: In order to import the XML files you will need to be running Author-it Enterprise Edition version 4.1.473 or later. Author-it Desktop and Workgroup Editions do not support XML importing so cannot be used. For information on upgrading please visit our pricing page.

3. Create the transition variables in Administrator.

Once this has been set up, you can publish and view the sample presentation.
