Using Advanced Search

Use Advanced Search to restrict your search criteria. You can limit your criteria to any, or all, of the following:

  • Object code
  • Templates the objects are based on
  • Object type
  • Release States applied to the objects
  • Folders the objects are in
  • Books the objects are used in
  • Object description (use wildcards if you do not know the exact wording used in the object's description, for example, *acme*)
  • Groups or users who last modified the objects
  • Groups or users who created the objects
  • Last modified date

The search criteria have drop-down lists which remember previous values you have used, and most criteria enable you to multi-select.

Some of the advanced search criteria require you to select one or more options from a list. If the list is sorted into parent/child items a right-click option enables you to quickly select all child items under a parent. To use this option just select [...] next to the field, select the parent item from the list, then right-click and choose Select All Sub Items. If the child items are currently selected you can right-click and choose Unselect All Sub Items. If all items in the list are at root level the right-click option is not available.

Tip

If no results are returned, try using less restrictive criteria. Similarly, if too many results are returned, try using additional criteria to make your search more specific.

Advanced Search

Results returned are limited to only those that meet all the criteria you have defined. The more criteria you specify, the fewer objects will be found.
