Author-it 5.2.71.2359 (28 Jan 2009)
Upgrading to Author-it 5.2.71.2359
This is a full installation and update package. Provided your current version is 5.1.15.759 or earlier you can install this update without needing to uninstall your current version first.
Note: When installing you select how Author-it will be installed for people using this computer: either Everyone to make Author-it available for all users with access to the computer or Just me to make the installation of Author-it available to you only. If running this update over an existing installation, you need to choose the same option as initially selected to ensure all components are updated correctly. If you can't remember the option you chose, uninstall Author-it first.
- Ensure all users are logged out of your library, then back up all your libraries, graphics, templates, and any other supporting files before you begin. If using SQL Server you can back up your library by exporting it to JET provided the library is under 2GB, otherwise have your SQL Server administrator back it up for you.
- Run the Author-it Setup program to begin the installation process and follow the steps.
- Open your library in Author-it Administrator and follow the prompts to upgrade your library.
Detailed installation instructions, should you need them, can be found in the Knowledge Center.
The following issues have been resolved in this build:
Within Author-it
- Redundant objects can now be deleted, or moved to a different folder.
- Using ALT+Enter to create an embedded topic from a table now works correctly. The embedded topic (consisting of the table and its content) is created as expected, and table in the container topic is converted correctly.
- In the Related Topics tab, the order assigned to topics in the Specific Links field is saved correctly.
- Text added between embedded topics is saved correctly. When the topic is reopened the text and style display as expected.
- Changes are now saved correctly when you update a topic's title by changing its case.
- When using drag and drop to embed content in the middle of the container topic Author-it no longer scrolls to the start or end of the topic after the action has been completed.
- When working with Index Entries, it's now easier to use drag and drop to create different levels in the structure.
- Canceling a publishing job no longer causes Author-it to close.
- When creating a new template (based on an existing template) the Based on field no longer resets to (none).
- When opening a topic from the Show Relationships window, the topic opens in the Editor rather than opening the Properties window. The behavior also applies to opening topics from index entries and hyperlink objects.
- The settings for the preview pane position in the Library Explorer (at the right of the object list, or below the object list) are saved and used when the library is reopened.
- Two people saving or updating different objects at the same time no longer causes an error.
- When working with object versions, the redundant versions can now be deleted.
- Find and Replace is now working correctly when text is in a table.
- Libraries can now be successfully upgraded directly from version 4.5 to 5.2, without having to upgrade through any interim builds.
- When defining a custom color using the color picker, the custom color is saved and can be reused without redefining the color values. If you define more than one custom color ensure you select a blank custom color field each time before defining and adding the color.
- When using Find and Replace in the Library Explorer, you're given the options to search within the library, displayed objects, or a group of selected objects. This enables you to use Find and Replace with objects in a selected folder, or with objects in the search results list.
- The actions for expanding and collapsing nodes when dragging objects into the Book Contents have been improved. You can now drag objects over collapsed nodes without them expanding straight away. To expand the node, hold the cursor over the collapsed node.
- Choosing 1 pt (point) or 1 px (pixel) for the Style object's web font size no longer causes an error.
- When working in the SQL library, canceling the import from another library action no longer causes an incorrect error message to be displayed.
- Superscript characters are displayed correctly in the Editor.
- Creating a localization update, offline library, or exporting to Jet from a SQL library which uses SQL authentication no longer causes an error when executing multiple queries.
- The variant behavior for templates has been corrected. Variant objects can be created from all objects except templates.
- If a user has no permissions to modify a folder, the 'Create New', 'Delete', 'Move' and 'Rename' options in the context menu are disabled.
- In Author-it 5.2 when using acrocheck to review a topic, the Style flags are now displayed in the Editor. Options for correcting the error are displayed in the context menu, with full information for the error is displayed in the acrocheck report.
- In Author-it 5.2 individual term banks can be selected when setting the acrocheck options for use in the Editor, and the "Standard" Rule Set is available for English.
When Importing
- Internal cross reference links and external URL links are created correctly when importing Word documents.
- When importing an HTML Help project (.hhp file), the import process now completes without causing the error message "Error during analyzing! Import Failed. 2159"
- When importing an HTML Help project (.hhp file), the import process correctly creates index entries which point to multiple targets.
- When importing Word documents, the text is imported correctly and no longer contains fragments with missing words.
When Publishing
- Bullets are displaying correctly in published WinHelp topics.
- Publishing no longer causes a Key Orientation error when the Administrator's Language option has been set to Turkish.
- In the Publishing Console, text entered into the Search field now uses a darker font color so it is easily visible.
- In the Publishing Console, the search results no longer show books twice.
- List numbering is now resetting correctly in Word documents when they are published from machines with German Windows installed.
- Author-it Live no longer duplicates publishing jobs when using more than one publishing server.
- Multi-file chm files are working correctly.
- When publishing to HTML Pages or JavaHelp, variables using the style "(none)" no longer cause an error.
- When publishing to HTML Help and PDF, breaks no longer appear in tables that include embedded topics.
- When publishing to Word using an evaluation library, list numbering restarts correctly in the published documents.
- When publishing from a target library, any open Word or PDF documents must be closed before attempting to republish the document. The republish action in target libraries matches publishing actions from the main library.
- Borders on merged table cells are aligning correctly.
- When setting up a target library the templates and styles used by the main library should be included. Publishing now completes from a target library if some of the styles are missing.
- When publishing a book that includes embedded topics using variants you have two options for selecting the publishing criteria. Either include another primary object in the book to trigger the publishing prompt, or assign the variant criteria to the publishing profile. If you choose the second option the criteria you assign to the publishing profile is the only option for publishing. In this case, you will need to create a profile for each variant value you publish to.
Using Offline Authoring
- When working in an offline library, attempting to delete objects no longer causes information messages to be displayed twice.
- When checking in an offline library containing newly created objects (such as topics and hyperlinks), the objects codes are correctly updated in the main library.
- Deleting folders and moving objects in the main library no longer causes offline options in the context menu to be disabled.
Within Author-it Localization Manager
- When related topics have been customized, the modifications are retained correctly when the translation jobs are imported back into the library.
- The column for the locale flags is displaying correctly in the target libraries.
