Blank Paragraphs In Word Output

Problem

I'm finding an empty paragraph after each topic in my published Word output.

Reason

There are two common reasons for this:

  1. Check the "allowpagebreak" style exists in your Word publishing template - if it doesn't, it will result in empty paragraphs in your output. This often occurs if you've used your own Word publishing template. We recommend you start with the default authorit.dot and make your changes rather than creating a new template from scratch - that way you don't leave out styles such as this that are required. You can use Word's Organizer feature to copy your styles from existing templates or documents.
  2. Check that there aren't any empty paragraphs in your Author-it topics - if so, these will be published as empty paragraphs in your Word output. This can occur if you've imported documents that have contained blank paragraphs, or pasted text from another document - to remove the empty paragraphs, put the cursor in this paragraph and press BACKSPACE to delete it.

If neither of the above helps, try publishing the Word output from the Sample.adl. Does the problem still occur? If you've created your own Word template, try using the default authorit.dot to see of the problem continues. This will identify if the problem is with the template or the Topics inside Author-it.
