How Can I Create Links From My Graphics?

You can apply a hyperlink to the graphic - under the HTML > Image Options tab, you can set a relationship to a Hypertext Link object that defines the link that will be applied to the image of Windows Help, HTML or HTML based Help for this file. This property applies to both Windows Help and HTML - changes to one will also affect the other.

In the future you will be able to create image maps (containing multiple links, or links from specific areas of the graphic) inside Author-it. In the meantime, these must be created outside of Author-it - you can use an HTML editor to create an HTML version of the image map for all the HTML outputs, and the Segmented Hypergraphics Editor to divide up your image and create image maps for Windows Help.

Then:

1. Create a File Object in Author-it (don't use the embedded GIF file template, as you will need to link to the image map files)
2. For an HTML version of the image-map, use an HTML Editor to create your image map, then specify that file in the HTML tab of the File Object with the source type of "Linked Coded HTML file".
3. Specify the SHG image map file in the File Object's WinHelp tab with the source type "Linked WinHelp Graphics file".
4. Specify a standard version of the image in the Document tabs.

Note: Segmented Hypergraphics (SHG files) only work for WinHelp
