Hypertext Links Tab

The Hypertext Links tab contains a relationship to one or more Topics and/or Internet URLs. Any topic that uses this hyperlink in its text will have links created to these locations in the published output.

Internal Object Links List

A list that allows you to set relationships to Topic objects that will be published into cross references, or footnotes in the Word document, or jumps in the Windows help and HTML files. You can use drag and drop or the shortcut (right-click) menu to set a relationship.

Note: If any of the specified Topics are not part of the Book being published then they will be ignored at publishing time.

Internet URLs List

This is a list of all the Internet URLs that this Hypertext link will create links to in the published output. This list contains 2 columns:

  • URL: this is the actual URL of the external link
  • Description: a descriptive name for the URL (displayed when the cursor hovers over the link in the published output)
Internet URL

Use this field to enter or change the actual URL for the selected Internet URL. You can use any valid URL including http, ftp, mailto, https, etc.

Internet URL Description

Use this field to enter or change the description associated with the selected Internet URL. When there is more than Internal Object Link and Internet URL combined, this description is used as the anchor text for the URL in published output. If missing, the URL is used as both the anchor text and the link.

Add URL Button

Use this button to add a new Internet URL. When you click this button a new URL is created with the default URL of "http://www." You can change this to any valid URL including http, ftp, mailto, https, etc.

Remove URL Button

Use this button to remove an existing URL. Choose the URL from the Internet URL List and then choose this button to remove the URL.

Remove All URLs Button

Use this button to remove all existing URLs from the Internet URL List.
