Author-it 5.1.15.759 (23-Jul-2008)

Upgrading to Author-it 5.1.15.759

This is a full installation and update package. Provided your current version is 5.0.12.670 or earlier you can install this update without needing to uninstall your current version first.

Note: When installing you select how Author-it will be installed for people using this computer: either Everyone to make Author-it available for all users with access to the computer or Just me to make the installation of Author-it available to you only. If running this update over an existing installation, you need to choose the same option as initially selected to ensure all components are updated correctly. If you can't remember the option you chose, uninstall Author-it first.

  1. Ensure all users are logged out of your library, then backup all your libraries, graphics, templates, and any other supporting files before you begin. If using SQL Server you can backup your library by exporting it to JET provided the library is under 2GB, otherwise have your SQL Server administrator back it up for you.
  2. Run the Author-it Setup program to begin the installation process and follow the steps.
  3. Open your library in Author-it Administrator and follow the prompts to upgrade your library.

Detailed installation instructions, should you need them, can be found in the Knowledge Center.

The following issues have been resolved in this build:

Within Author-it

  • When creating a new topic based on a template containing placeholder or boilerplate text, that text is now included when creating a topic from either the main window or the book editor.

  • The option to remove character formatting by selecting (none) from the styles dropdown list is back.
  • Spell check on exit works correctly.
  • The option to rename a library is now only available in Author-it Administrator. Previously it could be renamed by right-clicking the root folder in Author-it which led to some undesirable behaviour.
  • When an image in a File object is updated the changes are now immediately displayed in an open Topic or the Object List's preview pane.
  • When creating a new version of an object, the variable assignments of the original version are automatically copied across to the new version.

  • Character styles can now be removed by selecting (none) from the styles dropdown list.
  • When working in the book editor you can now expand a topic that has subtopics regardless of whether the parent topic is locked.
  • If a library is renamed or deleted and the 'automatically open last library' option is enabled, Author-it no longer produces an unrecoverable error because it can't find the library to open it.
  • When selecting text and choosing the insert hyperlink button, the closest match (or the exact match if there is one) is now highlighted in the list of existing hyperlinks.
  • You can no longer open another library from the recent libraries list without first closing any open objects. Previously this would cause the object locks to remain.

  • If a Related Topic group contains specific links to several topics, it is now possible to set the sequence the topics display.
  • When defining an image as a bullet for a style in HTML, you can now use a relative path.
  • You can no longer delete an active version of an object where redundant or inactive versions still exist.
  • You can no longer make a version active when there is no active object.
  • You no longer get an error when loading a new library after having previously enabling the history preview.
  • When the Author-it window is not fully maximized so the scroll is enabled in the object list, sorting by columns now sorts the correct column.
