Author-it 5.0.12.670 (14-Apr-2008)
Upgrading to Author-it 5.0.12.670
This is a full installation and update package. Provided your current version is 5.0.11.625 or earlier you can install this update without needing to uninstall your current version first.
- Ensure all users are logged out of your library, then backup all your libraries, graphics, templates, and any other supporting files before you begin. If using SQL Server you can backup your library by exporting it to JET provided the library is under 2GB, otherwise have your SQL Server administrator back it up for you.
- Run the Author-it Setup program to begin the installation process and follow the steps.
Detailed installation instructions, should you need them, can be found in the Knowledge Center.
The following issues have been resolved in this build:
Within Author-it
- It is now possible to expand or collapse a topic in the Book Contents while it is selected.
- Find and Replace on a topic no longer gets in an endless loop when the string being replaced contains some of the same text as that in the string being found.
- Opening a Book where the first topic contains styles the user does not have permission to view, no longer produces an error and locks the book without opening it.
- When updating non-inherited properties of a topic template (such as moving it to another folder or changing the object description), Author-it now checks to ensure only changes that actually affect the inherited properties trigger an update to the objects based on the template.
- Selecting the publishing options for Book Name\Publish Type now remembers (and honors) the setting.
- Merged cells now display the right borders correctly.
- Topics can now be selected in the Book Editor and dragged into a Hyperlink or Index Entry object.
- Spell check on exit is now triggered. However, it is currently being triggered on save rather than on exit. This is to be corrected for the next update.
- Spell check now lists suggested spellings with the most relevant match at the top of the list.
- CTRL+SHIFT+END now selects all text to the end of the topic.
- Creating a new version of a topic containing an embedded topic then making the version active, no longer causes the topic to become embedded in itself.
- You can now control whether index entries wrap in html outputs by setting the Index Link style objects 'white space' property to 'nowrap'.
- All autotext entries now import correctly from the Word template.
- When creating a new hyperlink and adding the target topic as a link, the hyperlink description (title) is now automatically populated with the target topic name.
- When dragging a hyperlink or file object into an open topic, the cursor and drop icon show correctly.
- When selecting a topic and viewing its relationships, opening a book from the results now opens and highlights the topic.
- Text within the Heading fields of the Sort Order dialog box is now populated correctly, and saved correctly if modified.
- Non-english regional settings no longer cause topics containing tables to fail to open.
- When creating a new file object via the insert picture button in the editor, the file object properties no longer incorrectly show uninherited settings as inherited.
- When updating an Object template, circular reference checking is carried out to ensure multiple templates can not be based on each other.
- Multiselecting objects with the SHIFT key then clicking one of the selected items now deselects the list as expected.
- Text properties in the Object Search are now 'remembered' and available for reselection within the current Author-it session.
- Redundant objects can be deleted or moved to another folder.
- It is now possible to copy and paste a topic within a book or to another book to create another instance of the same topic.
- Object Replace correctly replaces all relationships.
- Embedded topics with character styles applied, no longer produce invalid XML errors.
When Importing
- The MIF Import filter has been replaced and is now installed as part of the standard Author-it installation. Access to the MIF import is all controlled by the licence (*.alc) file.
- Creating a new import profile no longer reverses the sequence of import rules once the profile is saved.
- When creating a new import profile, a check is now made and if an existing profile with that name already exists, the new profile is is renamed.
- Importing HTML files with tables no longer causes the Importer to hang. If the tables cannot be created, a warning is shown in the log and the import continues.
- When the first topic to be imported contains a table, that topic is now imported correctly.
When Publishing
- Embedded topics containing character formatting no longer cause an invalid XML error when publishing to XML.
- Styles within frames in the Word publishing template no longer cause errors on publishing to print outputs.
- A "relatedtopics" class attribute is now added to the related topics table within HTML/XHTML output.
- When publishing to JavaHelp, index items no longer close prematurely leading to invalid XML error which previously prevented the published JavaHelp from opening.
- When publishing to HTML Help, Author-it now uses relative paths to any additional files so the help compiler won't fail due to paths being too long.
- When publishing from the command line, the license is now released correctly once the process has completed.
- Publishing no longer fails when the path to linked files has spaces at the beginning of the folder name.
- Javascript files are now created as UTF-8 so the DHTML search in foreign languages displays properly. For users that have already upgraded, or those who upgrade in the future and still use their original V4 templates, they will need to edit the dhtml_search.js and dhtml_search.htm files, replacing "ISO-8859-1" with "UTF-8".
- The publishing window no longer 'shrinks' each time you publish.
Within Publishing Profiles:
- You are now able to use the Theme tab to substitute any object type that can be placed into the Book Contents (eg: Title Page, TOC, Index) as well as Styles and Media objects.
- The Select buttons on the Select object to replace menu now work as expected.
- Publishing profiles now resolve relative paths to XSL transformations within.
Within Author-it Administrator
- Creating a new File object type variable no longer converts the variable to a text variable.
- The Repair and Compact works as expected.
Within Author-it Localization Manager
- Creating a new target library or a library update from a SQL 2005 source database, no longer produces an 'Error occurred while executing multiple queries' error.
- Upgrading libraries from V4.5 now sets the path to the target libraries correctly.
- Editing the path to a target library in the Localization Properties window no longer appends the last folder in the path twice.
- When a source library contains both inactive and active versions of an object, only the active version will be active in the target library.
