Installing Author-it on SQL Server Express

If you don't have access to SQL Server, and want an alternative to using a Jet database, Microsoft's SQL Server 2005 Express Edition provides an alternative.

SQL Server Express enables you to work with Author-it libraries up to 4 GB in size. This is freely available from the Microsoft website, along with full details on hardware and software requirements, installation steps, and a number of other resources.

Once you have downloaded and installed both Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition (database engine) and SQL Server Management Studio Express, create a blank SQL Server database, and simply follow the steps to export your Jet library to SQL Server.
