Assigning Variables to an Object

Variables are assigned to objects using the Variable Search dialog box (accessed from the Metadata tab in the Object Properties window).

To Add a Variable Assignment to an Object:

  1. Right-click on the object and choose Object Properties.
  2. Select the Metadata tab in the Object Properties window.
  3. Choose New Assignment. The Variable Search dialog box is displayed.
  4. Display the library variables using one of the following methods:
    • To locate and add a specific variable to the object, type part of the variable name in the Search box and press the ENTER key

      -or-

    • To choose from a list of all variables in the library, leave the search field empty and press the ENTER key.
  5. Add a checkmark to the variable you want to assign to the object. You can change the variable value assigned to the object by typing a new value in the assignment field, or by selecting an option from the drop-down list (for a list of values variable).

  6. Choose Insert Selected to assign the variables to the object and close the Variable Search dialog box.
  7. Choose Apply in the Object Properties window.
