Inserting a Graphic Which Already Has a File Object

When the graphic you're inserting already has a File object in your Library, you can simply tell Author-it to insert that File into your topic.

Tip

Tip: You can use drag and drop to insert a File object in the topic text. Just drag a File object from either the Object Search or the contents of a Book into the topic text.

To Insert an Existing File:

  1. In the Topic, position the cursor where you want to insert the graphic.
  2. Choose Edit > Insert > Insert File Object. The Select a File Object window is opens.

    Set a One-to-One Relationship

  3. In the Folders pane, select the Library Folder containing the File you want to use. The folder's contents are displayed on the right.
  4. Select the File you want to use. If the Preview option is selected, you'll see the contents of the File in the Preview pane.
  5. Choose OK. The File is inserted into your topic.
  6. Save the changes to your topic.
