Putting a Book into Edit Mode

When a book is opened it cannot be edited straight away. To work with the book's contents you must put the book into edit mode.

When the book has been locked (or put into edit mode) the contents can be rearranged, and topics and objects (such as a Table of Contents, Index, etc) can be added or removed. While you are working in a book in edit mode the contents are locked for other users.

  • When the book is unlocked the Lock Book, and Reload Book Contents buttons on the Book Contents Toolbar are available.

Locking the book enables you to rearrange and add content. Other users can open the book as read only but will not be able to rearrange or add content to the book. Unlocking the book takes the book out of edit mode and makes it available for other users.

To Put the Book into Edit Mode:

  1. Open the book in the Book Contents pane.
  2. Choose Lock Book icon on the Book Contents Toolbar to put the book into Edit Mode.
