Creating the Website's Content

Creating the website's content involves:

  1. Creating the files controlling the website's look and feel. This process is completed by the Web Designer (and programmer if required).

    The Web Designer:

    • Creates templates using placeholders to identify where content and functionality will be substituted in the final webpage.
    • Creates or modifies style sheets to control the formatting of the text.
    • Creates additional code to provide functionality in the webpage (if different from the default functions).
  2. Creating content in Author-it. This process is completed by the Author.

    The Author:

    • Creates content (text and graphics) used in the webpages and assigns topic templates.
    • Assigns Website Manager variables, and structures the book to reflect the website's sitemap. When completed, books are published to Website Manager.
    • Moves content and related files (images, code, templates, and HTML pages) to the review folders on the web server.
