Overview of the Website Manager Process
The Author-it Website Manager process can be broken into two main areas:
- Setting up the website
Author-it Website Manager is installed on the webserver. Content is created in Author-it, published as HTML, and uploaded to the webserver. Templates (containing placeholders rather than content) are created for each end user experience your website will be delivered in. Rules are defined in Author-it Website Manager to identify the templates, content, and functionality used to build the final webpage.
The process of creating the website is split into specific roles, or areas of responsibility. Authors create content using Author-it, Designers create or modify templates, and in some circumstances (depending on your requirements) Developers create additional code used to add functionality. Finally, the Web Administrator or Webmaster uses Author-it Website Manager to pull everything together.
- Delivering the website
Web content is delivered as an end user experience which is a combination of look and feel, content, and functionality. The webpage is based on information gathered by Author-it Website Manager from the visitors computer and browser when they first access the website. Author-it Website Manager compares this information to the rules that have been defined and compiles the correct elements to create the final webpage.
