Creating a New Version of an Object

Author-it allows you to create multiple versions of an object. You can choose to make a new version of an object at any time.

Note: You cannot create new versions of Style objects or object templates.

To Create a New Version of an Object:

  1. Select an object from the Library Explorer window

    -or-

    Open the object you want to create a new version of.

  2. In the main window choose Manage > Versioning > Create New Version. A message appears, asking you to confirm your action.
  3. Choose Yes to create the new version. Author-it creates and displays an exact duplicate of the original object, with a new version number and a status of (inactive). You'll need to make the new version active before it can be included in any published documents.
