General Options

The General tab provides access to general library settings.

Prompt for Unsaved Changes

When a topic or book is closed Author-it automatically saves the changes. When the Prompt for Unsaved Changes option is selected, Author-it prompts you to confirm whether you want to save the changes before closing, or close without saving the changes.

Automatically Open Last Library

When you select this option, Author-it opens the last Library that was used. If the option is not selected, Author-it displays the Open/Create Library window listing the Libraries you have recently opened.

Automatically Login to Library

When this option is selected Author-it attempts to automatically log in to the library you are opening using the last User ID and Password. If the login is not successful then the Library Login dialog is displayed. When the option is not selected Author-it displays the Login window.

Enable Offline Library

Check this box to enable an Offline Library. When enabled, an Offline folder icon is added to your Library Folders list.

Autosave Objects

This option allows you to specify how often, in minutes, Author-it will save all open objects. Select the options and then set the number of minutes. When this option is not selected autosave is disabled.

Measurement Units

This option lets you specify the measurement used by the Ruler in the Editor.

You can choose from:

• Inches
• Centimeters
• Millimeters
• Points
• Picas

Paste Pictures, Save As

When you copy a graphic to the clipboard and paste it directly into a Topic, Author-it uses this setting to determine the format the graphic will be embedded as. Choose from:

• Graphics Interchange Format (*.gif)
• Windows Bitmap (*.bmp)
• Portable Network Graphics (*.png)
• JPEG File Interchange Format (*.jpg, *.jpeg)
• Windows Metafile (*.wmf)

Items shown in the recently used Libraries list

This option can be altered to increase or decrease the number of items shown in the recently used Libraries list.
