Opening An Object

You can open an object from just about anywhere you see its icon, or any reference to it in another object. You can also view an object's properties.

To Open an Object:

As a general rule you can double-click on an object icon, or name, to open that object.

  • From the Library Explorer:
    • Double-click the object, or
    • Right-click and choose Open.
  • From the contents of a Book object or Index object:
    • Double-click on the object's icon, or
    • Right-click and choose Open, or
    • Right-click and choose Open In New Window.
  • From one-to-one relationship properties (such as individual fields, for example, clicking the Media object in the topic properties Web tab):
    • Double-click the object's name. This only works when the field is not disabled (grayed) and is not a drop-down list.
  • From one-to-many relationships (such as lists of objects shown in a panel, for example, in the Show Relationships window):
    • Double-click on the object's icon, or
    • Right-click and choose Open.
