Managing Review Comments In Author-it
A really effective way of managing your review comments in Author-it is to create a number of standard review topics, using your usual ‘review’ style. These standard review topics should containing the questions that you are always asking of your reviewers and notes to yourself or other authors in your team. For example:
Please can you provide more information.
Is this correct?
Insert a screenshot here.
So that you can easily search for these topics the titles should have a prefix, for example RT: or if you work with a team of authors then you may want to prefix with your initials. For example:
AC: Please can you provide more information.
JH: Please can you provide more information.
When required these review topics can be inserted as an embedded topic.

My first thought was that this provides a nice way of separating review comments from topic content. But it does not really provide a clear method for reviewers to make comments.
They could make comments directly in the main topic - in which case the comments are no longer separate - or in the embedded topic - which may be shared with other topics.
I suppose a 2-level approach might work, with one topic holding standard review questions, embedded in another topic for comments that are specific to the main topic, and that is embedded in the main topic. But this means you’d have a lot of review topics!

I agree that this is not a suitable method for reviewers to enter their comments. This was never the intention of this tip. The intention is for the authors to have a small number of standard ‘review’ topics simply as placeholders.
We use this method in situations where the reviewers are not providing their comments directly into Author-it.
