Inserting an Image That Already Has a File Object

When the graphic you're inserting already has a File object in your library, you can simply tell Author-it to insert that File object into your topic.

Tip You can use drag and drop to insert a File object in the topic text. Just drag a File object from either the search results list or the book's contents into the topic text.

To Insert an Existing File Object:

  1. In the topic, position the cursor where you want to insert the graphic.
  2. Choose Edit > Insert > Insert File Object. The Select a File Object window is opens.

    Set a One-to-One Relationship

  3. In the Folders pane, select the library folder containing the File object you want to use. The folder's contents are displayed in the right column in the window.
  4. Select the File object you want to use. If the Preview option is selected, you'll see the contents of the File object in the Preview pane.
  5. Choose OK. The File object is inserted into your topic.
  6. Save the changes to your topic.
