Setting a File or Directory Property

Some properties refer to external files or directories, which are easy to specify.

To Set a File or Folder Property:

  1. Click the [...] button at the end of the property field. If you're specifying a file to use, the Open File window is opened

    -or-

If you're specifying a folder to use, the Select a Folder window is opened.

  2. Choose the required folder or file, then:
    • For a folder, choose OK

      -or-

    • For a file, choose Open.

The dialog box closes and the name of the file or folder is displayed in the property field.

Using relative folder paths

Some folder properties let you type in a relative location (for example, in the File object). Instead of specifying a full file path, you can specify a path relative to the position of the folder that contains the Author-it library you're working with. This is usually a better option if you ever need to move the library to a different folder.

For example, if your library is in the folder "c:\program files\<AITFL>\data\libraries\" and you're specifying a folder for your graphics whose full file path is "c:\program files\<AITFL>\data\libraries\graphics\", then its easier to specify the graphics folder path as just "graphics".
